SYMC was founded in 1963 to further the interest in motoring and motorsport with a particular emphasis on cars 20 years and older. In those days that really meant pre-war cars. Today, whilst many members have post war cars, there is still a good showing of older vehicles of all sorts, some dating back to the Edwardian period. The Club therefore welcomes membership to all those who own or are interested in cars and motorcycles generally older than about 20 years-although we are not to strict on the age!

The club holds a monthly meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. In the summer these usually involve a drive out to one of Shropshire’s many pubs where members may meet early and enjoy a pub meal or come later for a drink a chat around the cars. In the winter months we meet at Harmer Hill Village Hall for a talk, film show, a quiz or just a chat over a drink from the Hall’s reasonably priced bottle bar. If you want to join the Club, one of the best ways to do so is to look at the Events page and come to one of our monthly meetings and ask to speak to any member of the committee who will soon introduce you to everyone.

Apart from in the depths of winter, we organise a number of motoring events usually at the weekend which are designed to provide some gentle exercise for car & owner alike. These are entirely non-damaging and require no special skill or equipment other than a car and a driving licence. These include runs, treasure hunts, shows, driving tests and trials. We also hold an open evening once a year to which all other motoring clubs and the public are invited to and bring along whatever vehicle they want to show off.
